The company was using a vendor-supplied Analytics Platform Framework that handled data ingestion, transformation and serving. It worked initially, but as edge cases started to appear and more users came on board, costs, maintenance time and time-to-market for new data products and features all increased exponentially.
I designed, implemented and led the new Analytics Platform deployment and operationalization on Databricks and Azure, making it GxP-compliant and delivering the outcomes above. Using software engineering and DevOps/DataOps best practices aligned with product thinking, I delivered a robust, scalable and maintainable system that served the different business areas inside the company: Finance, TechOps, R&D, Commercial and supporting functions.
Later on, I was also responsible for evolving the platform with AI and GenAI capabilities and services to support the business, building the systems that turned PoCs and MVPs into production assets, and deploying the first AI projects in production using MLOps and GenAI.
